Mary Nell “Nellie” Lovelady, 88 of Amarillo passed away July 20, 2012. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Chapel of Memories with Roger Hubbard, Pastor of Lake Tanglewood Community Church officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 I-40 East. Nellie was born June 1, 1924 to Paul and Viola Davis in Horn Lake, Mississippi. She shared a home there with five brothers and one sister. She married the love of her life, Elmer Lovelady on September 11, 1939 in Ripley, Tennessee. Elmer and Nellie had five children, Elmer Jr., Bobby, Bonnie, Hayes and Ricky. The family lived in Golddust, Tennessee where they farmed cotton. They moved to Amarillo in 1962. Nellie worked for Amarillo College and Greyhound as a cook for many years. Her cooking was her trademark and cooking for her family was her greatest joy. Nellie and her daughter Bonnie have shared their home for the last twenty three years. They both took great pride in taking care of one another. Nellie was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. She will forever be missed. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Lovelady; her son, Elmer Lovelady, Jr.; her daughter, Bonnie Paulk and her great-granddaughter, Brenna Renee Proffitt. Mary is survived by her sons, Rick Lovelady and wife Betty, Bobby Lovelady and wife Debbie and Hayes Lovelady and wife Judy, all of Amarillo; her grandkids, Travis, Diane, Stevie, Donna, Steph, Tiff, Mike, Jenn, Brad, Dayton, Carrie and Connie; by 30 great-grandkids and numerous great-great-grandkids.
