Mary Ann Lee was born Feb. 11, 1924, in Chippewa Falls, Wis., to Felix and Teresa Przygocki. She graduated from St. Mary's College in South Bend, Ind., and received a master's in psychiatric nursing from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
Mary Ann Lee met Bob "R.J." Lee at the University of Chicago and they were married in 1955 at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at Notre Dame. He preceded her in death on Feb. 4, 1990.
Mrs. Lee and her husband created and built the Big Texan Steak Ranch in Amarillo, which has served as an international legendary steak house for 50 years and help define the growth of Amarillo.
She taught nursing at both West Texas A&M University and Amarillo College.
Mrs. Lee was a member of Yesterday's Children, The League of Women Voters and of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Survivors include eight children, Diana Lee Magill, Robert M. Lee, Daniel M. Lee and Douglas M. Lee, all of Amarillo, Rebecca M. Lee of Rockport, Richard M. Lee of Oak Hill, Va., Teresa A. Lee of Houston and William F. Lee of Haslet; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
