Margie was born on October 15, 1937 in Dawson County, Texas to Eric and Selma Anna (Huse) Kunkel. She graduated from Lamesa High School in 1956. Following High School she worked many different jobs prior to meeting and marrying Patrick L. Sullivan on August 22, 1965. They moved to Canyon where Patrick was a professor for West Texas State College, now WTAMU. After Patrick took a job with Amarillo College, the couple relocated to Amarillo where they would raise their only son, Brian. Margie took a job as a book keeper for Region 16 of Amarillo, where she would retire after many years of service.
Following Patrick’s passing, Margie would marry Joe Ammons. They spent three years together before Joe’s untimely passing. Margie loved to play the organ, especially for her church, Prince of Peace Lutheran; which she was a founding member. In her younger years, she loved to bowl. Travelling was something she greatly loved to do when she was able. She took special interest in attending and being involved with all of the church’s activities and events. She volunteered anytime she could and did what ever was needed to help. All of this failed in comparison to her real love, and that was her family, but especially her grandbabies. She had a genuine weakness for her grandkids. Once a month or so, she and her friends the “Lunch Bunch” would get together, which was one of her favorite pass times.
Margie is preceded in death by husbands Patrick Sullivan and Joe Ammons, her parents Eric and Selma Kunkel, her brother Herbert Kunkel; and her bonus daughters from her marriage to Joe. Those left to cherish her memory are her son Brian Sullivan and wife Amber, Bonus daughter Betty Bobo, her beloved five grandbabies Blaze, Indy, Aspen, Tripp, and True; as well as many other loving family and dear friends.
