Larry was born on December 05, 1937 in Bayard, Nebraska to Jack J. and Ruby Hill. He was a 1956 graduate of Bayard High School. After high School, he attended the University of Nebraska where he obtained his Master’s Degree in marketing. In February of 1966, Larry relocated to Amarillo while working for JC Penny’s. No sooner than walking in the door, he met Cherry Chambers who was also employed there. Within months of meeting, the two were married. He enjoyed many hobbies in life. He was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed working with his hands and creating anything he could out of wood. In his quiet time, he could be found enjoying a good book. During college football season, there was only one team he rooted for, his beloved Nebraska Cornhuskers. Larry was a member of the Noon Optimist, a past President of the Rotary Club in Atchison, and retired from JC Penny’s and Wal Mart.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and a brother in law. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Cherry Hill(Chambers) of Amarillo, son Heath Hill of Talihina, Oklahoma, daughter Holly Langston and husband Danny of Roswell, New Mexico, sister Loretta Parker of Elizabeth, Colorado; and his grandchildren Sam Gilbert and Stevi-Marie of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Elizabeth Hernandez of Roswell, New Mexio.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial donation be made in honor of Larry to your local Humane Society.
