Karen Lucille Price-Novak (Nana) of Amarillo, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 23, 2024 from 5-7 pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 10 am at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Karen was the mother of two sons. She was a daughter, sister, mom, aunt and a wonderful Nana of her own and many others she shared her love with. 1 John: 4:7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God.
Karen was born on September 19, 1951 in Amarillo to Vaughn and Ramona Price. She grew up in Amarillo and graduated from Tascosa High School in 1970. While in school she loved singing in the choir. After high school, Karen enjoyed singing in church choirs and was involved in the San Jacinto Baptist choir for many years. In those years she spent most of her time raising her two sons while working as an in-home caregiver for the elderly including her grandparents. Karen also loved to babysit for families. She provided care, but loved those children like they were her grandkids. They called her Nana just like her own grandchildren.
She owned and operated a bookstore in Amarillo for several years. She closed the door to her bookstore and was a caregiver to her grandmother for many years. As a caregiver and Nana, Karen invested years of care and love to many. Her love and legacy will live on in the hearts of her sons, grandchildren and others she cared for in her life.
When Karen wasn’t busy being a Mom, Nana, Aunt, or a caregiver she had many things she enjoyed throughout her life. She loved sewing, knitting and crocheting. She was an avid reader of her mysteries and other novels. She collected dolls and even made some of them their own clothes. She loved to bake, cook and even shared these hobbies with her family. She won first place ribbons for her baking at the Tri-State Fair. She enjoyed telling stories and teaching others about her family history. She also cherished her alone time when she was not in the presence of her family and friends. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Alzheimer's Texas 7000 N. Mopac Expy #200, Austin, TX 7873.
She is preceded in death by her father, Vaughn Dale Price and her mother, Ramona Pearl White Price.
