Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday December 21, 2012 in Memory Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Davey officiating. Arrangements are by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St.
Mrs. Jones was born Jan. 9, 1931, in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1948. Joyce Vivian Goodwin married George Walker Jones on Nov. 6, 1948. Mr. and Mrs. Jones were charter members of Wheels-a-GoGo Travel Club. She was a Cub Scout den mother when her sons were young, as well as a little league umpire, judge and scorekeeper and a home-room mother at her children’s school. Mrs. Jones enjoyed a variety of hobbies: knitting, quilting, sewing, ceramics, painting and leatherworks.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Darrell Wood, and two sons, Samuel Keith Jones and Philip Casey Jones.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, George; two sons, Randy and Kelly and wife Khristi, all of Amarillo; a daughter-in-law, Leesa Jones of Monument, Colo.; three granddaughters, Rebecca Jones, Leslie Jones and Christina Hairgrove; three grandsons, David Jones, Michael Jones and Ches Phelps; and several great-great-grandchildren.
A coffee and cake visitation will follow the service at 8609 Garden Way in Amarillo.
