Joy A. Bryan Wilson, 93, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, in Austin. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Hal Rogers officiating. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Joy Anna Bryan Wilson was born Dec. 7, 1916, in Binger, Okla., to Edwin Lapsley and Katherine Jane Starkey. She attended nurses training at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. She was an RN. She married Harold V. Wilson on June 6, 1943, in Rockwall. He died in 1974. She moved to Amarillo in mid-'40s to help her husband build drive-in theaters in the Panhandle, which included Palo Duro, Twin and Skyway. She later became an OR nurse and retired from High Plains Baptist Hospital. She moved to Austin in 2002. Survivors include two daughters, Vicki Shaffer and husband Charles and Peggy Dosser and husband Randy; three grandchildren, Jaime Bragg, Michael Dosser and Kaitlyn Dosser; a great-granddaughter, Aubrey Elizabeth Bragg; two nieces, Sandy Wilson of Granby, Colo., and Jo Homan of Jasper, Ga.; two nephews, Gary Bozeman and wife Rachel of Aledo and Van Wilson and wife Sue of Empire, Mich.; and her very special friend, Judy Smith of Amarillo.
