John Daniel Shelton

Date of Death: December 24, 2013 in Amarillo

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Memorial Park Funeral home Chapel of Memories, with Father Edward Sweeney officiating.

Rosary: 6:30 pm Friday December 27, 2013 at the funeral home

Entombment will be at Memorial Park East Mausoleum by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 I-40 East.

John was born December 11, 1931 to Daniel and Eula Shelton in Matador, Texas. He was raised in and around the Motley County area. John joined the Air Force after high school graduation in 1951 in Amarillo. He proudly served his country during the Korean war and received numerous citations and medals for his service. On February 11, 1966 John married the former Jennie Lee Puleo in Amarillo. In 1971 John retired from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant. In his civilian life he was an accountant for several companies in Amarillo. John retired in the early 90’s and spent his retirement fishing, surfing the net, and working crossword puzzles. He also loved bowling in the various leagues in Amarillo. John was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.

John was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers William, Paul and Edd Shelton.

John is survived by his wife, Jennie Shelton; sons, Patrick and James Shelton of Amarillo; 2 brothers, Calvin Shelton of Silverton and Joe Shelton of Silver City, NM; and 3 sisters, Alma Inette Johnson of Tulia, Virginia Sue Thorton of Tulia and Martha Lou McJimsey of Arizona.
