Joan was born to Harold Travis Sr. and Violetta Sprock. Joan moved to Amarillo in 1950’s and worked for White Kirk Department store, until marrying the love of her life Duane Burrows on March 13, 1960. They were marred 50 years. She was a Christian woman was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband Duane; parents Harold and Violetta Travis; brothers Frank R. Travis; George J. Travis; Bill Travis; Elsworth “Tinker” Hann; Sisters; Agnes Conklin; Edna “Tootie” Travis; Martha Kingsley and grandson Michael Jay Burrows II.
She is survived by daughter Ellen Rutter and husband Marion Ty of Clovis, NM; granddaughter Angele Dooley and husband Brent of Bossier City, LA; great granddaughters Amelia and Evelyn of Bossier City, LA; niece Linda Travis of Amarillo; niece Cindy Grinstead and husband Bruce of Ft. Worth, TX; brother Harold G. Travis of Peekskill NY; sister Lorraine Turner of Lake Peekskill, NY along with numerous loving family members in Peekskill.
Memorials can be made in her name to Trinity Lutheran Church; High Plains Food Bank; Salvation Army; Faith City Mission; St. Jude’s; Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Amarillo.
