A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, “Jim” always had a friendly smile and a keen sense of humor to share with everyone. He was born in Amarillo, TX on August 2, 1943, to parents, Frank and Juliana (Teiber) Crandall. He grew up with his sister, Virginia, in Amarillo, graduating from Tascosa High School in 1961. He worked for the Amarillo Fire Department and Southwestern Portland Cement Company and graduated with an associate degree in accounting from Amarillo College. He went on to have a long career in the trucking industry, hauling for major trucking lines and eventually becoming an owner-operator. On the CB radio, he was affectionately known as “Jim Dandy”.
Jim was married to Jackie (Reed) Crandall for 55 years, raising a beautiful daughter and two rambunctious sons together, and in their later years enjoying many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jim and Jackie joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1975 and Jim was truly a servant for his fellow church members and community, often volunteering his technical skills to help the elderly, who loved him for his never-ending generosity of spirit.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie, a daughter, Lisa Hallows and her husband Bret, a son, Matt and his wife Brenda, a son, Stephen and his wife Leigh Anne, a sister, Virginia Hubbell and her husband Marius, as well as 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Charlie. A viewing at 9:00 am followed by memorial services at 10:30 am will be held Saturday, May 6th at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 5401 S Bell St, Amarillo, TX.
