Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 14th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 I-40 East (I-40 and Whitaker). Services are scheduled for 2:00pm Thursday, November 15th at Saint Paul United Methodist Church
James was born on July 4th, 1957 to Georgia Faye and Melvyn Bagley in Tulia, TX. He graduated from Kress High School in 1975 and went on to attend West Texas State University (now WTAMU), graduating with a BBA in Accounting in 1979. He remained a staunch supporter of WTAMU for the remainder of his life where he and Linda established a scholarship for accounting students as well as serving as past members of the President’s Circle of the WTAMU Foundation Board.
On October 10, 1981, James married the love of his life, Linda. Together they enjoyed extensive travel, and were devoted fans of the Dallas Cowboys & Texas Rangers. James was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying golfing, hunting, and fishing, distinguishing himself in each. He was especially proud of his two holes-in-one, one in San Diego in 1994 and one in Las Vegas in 1995.
James worked for Xcel Energy (formerly SPS) for 38 years, most recently as Manager of Regulatory Administration. He also served in various leadership roles in the community, including Chairman of the Board of Directors for the March of Dimes, Member of the Optimist Club, President of the Tascosa Country Club, Graduate of Leadership Amarillo, Chairman of the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce Membership Relations Committee, Chairman of the Audit Committee of the Public Services Employee Credit Union (now Access Credit Union) and active with the United Way of Amarillo and Canyon. He was a dedicated member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church for 37 years, serving in various capacities including Sunday School Teacher, lay leader and various committees.
James is survived by his wife, Linda; his sisters Karen (Rodney) Collins of Petersburg, TX and Pam
(Steve) Lash of Pampa, TX; his brother Robert Waller of Bedford, TX; several nieces and nephews and loving family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Georgia Faye and Melvyn Bagley and his stepmother Mary Bagley; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Martha and Wayne Gentry. James M. Bagley, 61, of Amarillo, passed from this life on November 10, 2018.
