He was born in Memphis, TN on April 20, 1948 to Carl Alexander & Cora Jane Morris.
Dutch had many fond memories and stories about growing up traveling the world as the son of a career Airman. He was blessed to experience those family adventures with his parents and sister/best friend, Joyce Mullen. Dutch himself was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served as a boatswain’s mate on the U.S.S. Truckee for 4 years. After his time in the Navy, Dutch graduated from the William R. Moore School of Technology where he majored in drafting with a minor in woodworking. He was a creative soul, a woodworker, designer, craftsman, entrepreneur, salesman, and had an architectural mindset. In his free time you could find Dutch bowling, fishing, and later in life metal detecting. Two of his proudest working accomplishments were being store engineer of the year with Malone & Hyde and owning his own woodworking business, Carpenter’s Creations. Dutch’s favorite family moments were the birth of his two daughters, Amy and Julie, and enjoying the wonderful life he built with his wife of 25 years, Mollie. Amy, Julie, & Mollie were blessed to spend Dutch’s last days right by his side. Though he loved all deeply, especially family, he was looking forward to seeing his parents and friends who went before him, and to be at the side of Jesus.
Dutch is survived by his wife Mollie Morris of Amarillo, TX; daughters, Amy Morris of Ames, IA, and Julie Tentrup and her husband Michael of Port Neches, TX; grandchildren, Samantha Tentrup and Connor Tentrup; sister, Joyce Mullen and husband Fred of Ocala, FL; nephew, Brandon Strickland of Amarillo, TX; great-nephew, Aaron Strickland: and numerous family and friends.
Although we will miss him dearly, today we celebrate Dutch’s transfer to Heaven. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 10am at Central Church of Christ (Chapel). 1491 S. Madison, Amarillo, TX 79101. In lieu of flowers Dutch requested that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Donations can be made online at woundedwarriorproject.org Dutch’s final resting place will be at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, TX.
