Services will be at 2:00 pm Thursday, January 24,2013 in Osage Baptist Church, 8425 S. Osage St., with her grandsons, Dennis and Kevin Humphrey and her pastor, the Rev. David Speed, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40.
Gerlene was born in Rocky, Okla., to Freeman and Winnie Davis Hill. She and her family also were the first residents of the Eastridge addition in 1951. She was married to Walton M. Humphrey for 56 years; he preceded her in death in 2002. She worked as a bookkeeper for Northwest Texas Hospital on Seventh Street, Goldenlight Coffee Co., J.I. Case/AT Machinery and retired from the trust department at First National Bank after 15 years in 1987. She was a longtime active member of Osage Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Ray Humphrey and wife Lynda of Amarillo and Alvin Humphrey and wife Brenda Sue of Hewitt; a sister, Joan Nelson of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Rudy Hill and wife Lydia and Ronald Hill, both of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, Tammy Sue Kline and husband Greg of Waco, Ethan Alvin Humphrey of North Dakota, Dennis Ray Humphrey and wife Jamie of Amarillo and Capt. Chaplain Kevin Lynn Humphrey and wife Jennifer of Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa, Japan; 11 great-grandchildren, Amanda Bunch and husband Anthony, George Harn, Alysha Michelle Humphrey and Ashleigh Marie Humphrey, all of Waco, Jordan Ray Humphrey and Kaycee Michelle Humphrey, both of Amarillo, and Hannah Lynn Humphrey, Joseph Lee Humphrey, John David Humphrey, Caleb Jarret Humphrey and Sarah Mae Humphrey, all of Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa; and three great-great-grandchildren, Aubrey Ann Bunch, Anthony Logan Bunch and Alissa Lynn Bunch, all of Waco.
