Elva was born on October 12, 1929 in Tamaulipas, Mexico to the late Tiburcio and Isabel Saenz. She was the second oldest of 5 children.
She made a life with her husband Augustin Alvarez June 12, 1960 in La Villa, Texas they eventually made their way to their final home in Amarillo all while raising 3 sons and 3 daughters.
Elva was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always worried about her family; she was a vessel of light, warm, loving and a friend to many. She was a social butterfly. She enjoyed her coffee and pan dulce, shopping, sitting out in the sun to get fresh air, listening to music, singing, dancing as well as being a devoted dog mom to her precious Lilly.
Aside from her parents, Elva was predeceased by her husband Augustin Alvarez in 1993, her daughter Gloria Alvarez, a great-grandson Armani Jaramillo, and a sister Elia Saenz-Barrera.
Left to mourn Elva are her daughters Irene (Jose Bravo), Emelda (Stanley Leal Sr.), Ida (Leobardo Solis), her sons Augustin Alvarez, Julian (Deanah Alvarez, Eric (Maria Alvarez), her 15 Grandchildren Frankie, Jessica, Monnick, Vonnick, Eric, Lauren, Aaron, Celeste, Samuel, Alex, Gloria, Courtney, Kimberly, September, Stanley, as well as 19 great-grandchildren, sister, 2 brothers, and countless nieces and nephews.
Elva was a selfless human being and wouldn’t want anyone to be sad at her passing. She would want to be celebrated. Instead, please do an act of kindness to honor her life. She was beautiful inside and out and her presence will be whole heartedly missed.
A funeral service for Elva will be held at Griggs Schooler Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Amarillo, TX, 79109, on Friday December 9, 2022 at 10:00a.m. A graveside service will follow immediately after at Llano Cemetery, 2900 S. Hayes St., Amarillo, TX 79103.
