Donald “Donnie” Sharp, 64 of Greenfield, Indiana passed away June 11, 2013. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Lance Herrington of Paramount Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be at Llano Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 I-40 East. Donnie was born September 24, 1948 in Borger to Frank and Jean Sharp. He was raised in Moore and Hutchinson County. Donnie married the love of his life on March 12, 1977 in Stinnett. He started working for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline in 1969, working his way up to head of pipeline patrol and retired in December of 2006 after 37 years. He actually received his pilot’s license before he got his driver’s license. Flying was his life and being a pilot was exactly what he did, it was his passion and he was exceptional at it. His flying career accounted for over 35,000 hours of flight time as both a private and corporate pilot. Shortly after getting his license, Donnie started instructing others and helping thousands of people get their pilot’s license. Recently he was living in Greenfield, Indiana and was a flight instructor for students at Purdue University. Donnie was a loving and devoted husband, father and brother. His family was very close and dear to him and he will be greatly missed. Donnie is survived by his loving wife, Debra Sharp of Greenfield, Indiana; son, Jeremy Sharp and girlfriend Darcy Loughran of Borger; sister, Margaret Fuhr and husband Roger of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; brother-in-law, Roger Brown of Denver, Colorado; aunt, Jimmie Cooper of Canadian; cousins, Derek Cooper of Canadian, Rhonda Cooper of Houston, Leslie Ashlock of Dallas, Michael Ashlock of Blue Ridge, Texas, DeeAnn Ashlock of Houston, Don Green and Gary Green both of Bastrop, Texas and Steve Green and Cindy Whitfield both of Amarillo; nephews, Adam Cooper of Phoenixville, Indiana and Jason Cooper and wife Abbey of Fort Walton Beach, Florida. The family suggests memorials be sent to Donnie’s favorite charity, James Whitcomb Riley Hospital for Children, 705 Riley Hospital Dr., Indianapolis, Indiana 46202.
