Stewart, and passed away peacefully at his home in Amarillo on January 14, 2023 at the age of 83.
When Delbert was seven years old the family welcomed his twin siblings, Bobby and Betty, into the family. They lived on the family farm in the Herring community. Delbert attended Herring Grade School and then Hammon High School. After a short time in Albuquerque, New Mexico, he came back to Hammon and graduated with the Class of 1958.
After graduation he moved to Amarillo, Texas to work. This is where he met the love of his life, Doris Felton, and they were married July 23, 1959, and have now celebrated 63 years of marriage. They lived and raised their two children, Debra and Duane, in Amarillo except for a short time in Kansas City and Oklahoma City. They returned to Amarillo and he worked for and retired from the City of Amarillo as an electrician. Delbert is well-known for the 32 years he played music and entertained guests at the Big Texan Steak House in Amarillo. He was a talented musician. He played the guitar, piano, fiddle and any other instrument he picked up. He has played music and sang in church from a young age, and has been a part of Gospel singing groups and Bluegrass and Country Bands. He never met a stranger and he always had a story to tell.
He is survived by his wife, Doris, of the home; one daughter, Debra Brannon and husband, Floyd of Amarillo; one son, Duane Stewart and wife, Tina of Canyon, TX; one brother, Bobby Stewart, and wife, Judy of Clinton, OK; one sister, Betty Eaton and husband Charles, of Hammon, OK; sisters-in-law, Janell Harden, of Bangs, TX; Pauline McNabb, of Roland, Ok; Pam Holman and husband, Kendall of Amarillo; brother-in-law, Earl Felton and wife, Jackie of Amarillo; grandchildren, Contessa Perry, Jason Perry, Jen Becker, Jamie Meyer, Taylor Montgomery, Reed Sturgess; great grandchildren, Xmanthious, Cadence, Damon, Ocean, Breezlien, Raine, Konner, Logyn, Lexi, Reagan; and great-great granddaughter, Ezra.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Clyde and Allene Stewart.
