Raul “David” Rodriguez 69, of Amarillo fought his battle with diabetes and went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, April 28, 2020. David was born to Feliciano and Antonia Rodriguez on June 30, 1950 in Amarillo,Texas. David was raised and lived in Amarillo most of his life. After high school graduation from Caprock High, David had the opportunity to live in Dallas,El Paso and Daytona Beach, Florida for many years and though he loved the“big city”, life was most happy living in Amarillo, where he returned and lived the rest of his life. David was a sports enthusiast his entire life, from wrestling while at Caprock High school to his love on the golf course. When it came to being the spectator, give him the Texas Longhorns or the Dallas Cowboys, any day. David also was a great music lover, from playing his trombone in the marching band to listening to all kinds of music.
David married the love of his life, Tricia Runnels on July 28, 2001 and they shared many interests, especially their love of road trips, which included many to Santa Fe, their favorite place. He never met a stranger he did not like and ALWAYS had a huge smile for you. He was a loving, giving and supportive husband, son, brother,uncle and friend.
He is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife Tricia, his brother Tomas and wife Sheila Rodriguez, his sisters, Vicky Munoz, Lisa Shaw and Stefanie Harmon. Nieces, Heather Najera and Danielle Harmon and nephews,John Munoz and Robert Shaw. Great nieces, Marissa Najera and Mallorie Munoz and great nephews RJ Najera, Michael Najera and Joshua Munoz. Great-great niece Johanna Najera and great-great nephews Ray Najera, Joseph Najera and Camden Ortega. David will be truly missed by both his loving family and friends.
