A celebration of David's life will be held on Friday, October 30, 2020 at 2pm in the Memorial Park Funeral Home's Chapel of Memories; 6969 E. Interstate 40.
David was born on April 29, 1958 in Amarillo to James Clifton and Erline Marie Housley where he was raised. David graduated from Caprock High School in 1976 and then went into the carpet laying business working in this industry until his retirement. He was very talented with this skill and was a “jack of all trade”. David could fix anything and approached tasks with confidence and competence. In later years David found the Lord and accepted Christ as his personal savior, his faith grew with each passing day. One day his heart was touched by a Christian song by Phillips Craig and Dean “I Want to Be Just Like You”. David knew his youngest son Kade wanted to be like him, so David wanted to be like God. David had a great sense of humor, he loved to play practical jokes on his family. He was slow to anger and quick to forgive.
David’s hobbies included growing sunflowers that grew tall and provided shade to his pet cats and any other creature that found its way into the backyard. He also enjoyed hunting and cooking Cajun fried turkeys for Thanksgiving. David loved cooking big breakfasts for his family, eating sweets and drinking milk by the gallons. He befriended many people and opened his home to any in need. He told his family you have to live through some rough days to better enjoy the good days.
He was preceded in death by father James in 1990, mother Erline Housley in 2012, his brother in law Jim McCluskey, in 2005 and brother, Dan Owsley in 2011.
