He was born February 23, 1929 in Vernon, Texas to Oscar and Louise Bodling.
Clarence worked on the family farm until he enlisted into the Marines on January 1952, where he fought in the Korean War until 1955. While in the Marines, he was wounded in action on October 1952 and received the Purple Heart, Good Conduct, National Defense Service, and Korean Service with 3 star medals, and was a POW. After he was discharged in January 1955, he went back to farming outside of Amherst where he stayed from 1960-1969. He then moved his family to Dallas and began his truck driving career that lasted until the mid 1990’s. During that time, he was a long haul over the road driver and had lived in Amarillo, Pecos, Barstow and Roscoe. He retired and moved to Lubbock and eventually to Amarillo where he resided until his passing.
Clarence is survived by his daughter: Annette Morris and husband Dennis of Amarillo, one son: Robert Bodling and wife Barbara of Boone Iowa, Grandchildren: Bruce Bodling of Polson, Montana, Michelle Burgess Wallace and husband Kendrick, Rachel Burgess, Jennifer Burgess Riddley and husband Cyrus all of Amarillo, Christina Bodling of Boone Iowa, Andrew Bodling of Santa Clara, California, and Amber Bodling of Tucumcari, New Mexico. Great-Grandchildren: Devonte, Demajion, Desharee, Demari and Dekiahryn Wallace, Jaharie, Julissa and Jarian Burgess Riddley, and Kyrah Burgess all from Amarillo, and one sister, Gladys Addison and husband Charles, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
He is preceded in death by his father Oscar passing in 1966, mother Louise passing in 1996, sister Agnes Schoppa passing in 1994, brother: Herbert passing in 2010; one son Glen passing in 2020; Veteran roommate and best friend of 12 years Johnie Henderson, passing in 2022.
Clarence will be missed by both his family and friends.
