Rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m. Friday, December 26, 2014 at Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with Father Gomez as celebrant.
Mass of Christian burial will be at Llano Cemetery by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell.
C.J. was born February 28, 1946 in Clovis, New Mexico. He moved to Amarillo at the age of 10. C.J. received his G.E.D. and worked for BNSF Railroad for 31 years, retiring in December 2010. He was a big sports fan and loved boxing and football. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He also loved to dance, calling himself the “Spinning Top O’ Texas”. Above all, his family was his all and the time he spent with them he cherished, especially his grandchildren. C.J. was a wonderful, hard-working husband, father and provider with a witty sense of humor.
C.J. was preceded in death by his parents; Flávio Griego, and Faviola Trinidad; a step-mom, Susan Griego; a sister, Patsy Lara and brothers, Johnny and Floyd Griego.
C.J. is survived by his wife, Bertha Griego of Amarillo; son, C.J. Griego Jr. and wife Alyssa of Amarillo; daughters, Cesaria Trevino and husband Jorge of Amarillo, Emilia Garcia and husband Neal of Lubbock and Mary Holladay and husband Jarred of Amarillo; brothers, Julian Griego, Phillip Griego and wife Sally and Rodney Griego all of Amarillo; sister, Janice Griego of Amarillo; his grandchildren, Chris Trevino, Sylvia Wilburn, Vincent Trevino, Jack Garcia, Bryndan Griego, Jordyn Griego, Matthew Holladay, Ashton Holladay, Bradley Holladay, C.J. Griego III, Brooklynn Griego and Braylon Griego; and great-grandchildren, Khloee, Emilio, Christopher, Thomas and Olivia.
