Charlotte was born April 21, 1924 in Fremont, NE of parents Bert W. Ryno and Sarah K. Ryno.
At age 6 months the family moved to Emporia, KS where she lived until after graduating from Emporia High School.
In 1942, she moved to Amarillo and started her career of 43 years. She worked in the office of F.W. Woolworth for 13 years. She then moved to Slaton, TX where she was the store manager of Slaton Variety for 3-4 years. She then returned to Amarillo and was employed by Bruckner Truck Sales for 26 years, retiring in 1985. She purchased rental property during this time which she kept rented and would sell at a future date to supplement her income.
She married Raymond F. Young on July 27, 1984 and enjoyed her married life and their travels together until his death in March of 1993. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. She was a member of Pioneer Square Dance Club and later was made an Honorary Member. She enjoyed her home, her visiting family, her outdoor yard, and flowers. She enjoyed writing letters and writing poetry, which she shared with her friends. She started the first monthly newsletter for the Craig Cottages and wrote it for a couple of years. She lived at the Craig Retirement Center and was proud to call it her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers and their wives, Leroy K and Bernice Ryno and Delbert E and Helen Ryno, one niece Deann Ryno Burns, three nephews Ronald P. Ryno, Lane K Ryno, and Jon Jeffrey Ryno who lost a son, Justin Ryno, a sister-in-law Ozelle Sutton, and a brother-in-law Gene Young.
Survivors include a stepdaughter Mary Frances Sigler, a stepson R. Mark Young, two nieces, Linda Gattis and husband David, and Andrea Ryno, a nephew-in-law Fred Burns, ReaLea Ryno Kearns and husband Jason, Brandon Ryno and his wife Ginger, children of the late Lane Ryno, sister-in-law Ella Auldridge, chosen family Dena and Michael Sandefer, and their respective children.
Charlotte expressed how she had the most wonderful friends throughout her life, who she loved and was dearly thankful for. She was gracious for those caregivers who came into her life recently and the friendships she was able to build with them as they helped to walk her home.
Visitation will be March 7, 2024 from 5-7 PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home with Charlotte’s friends and family, Funeral Service will be held March 8, 2024 at 10 AM at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
