Charlotte was born on June 5, 1950, in Amarillo, Texas, to C.B. and Elvina “Bea” Crosby. She graduated from high school in Colorado Springs, Colorado. After that, she moved back to Amarillo to start a new life with her son, Robert. While working as a dental assistant at a local dentist, Charlotte met Miles, and they got married a few months later. Their marriage lasted over 53 years, during which they added their daughter, Nicole, to the family. Charlotte worked at several different companies in Amarillo, but she particularly enjoyed her time at Davidson Oil Co., The Texas State Health Department, and the records department at the Clements Unit. Throughout her life, she had a few health issues that led her to retire early. Just a short time after retirement, her mother fell ill, and Charlotte took care of her at home until her passing. A few months later, Charlotte was overjoyed to welcome another grandchild and spent some of the best years of her life with her grandkids. She got to be Mimi to them! Once the grandkids grew up a bit, Charlotte and Miles embarked on an exciting adventure as Gate Guards. They worked for Site Watch for several fun-filled years. In the summers, Charlotte loved spending time camping and fishing with her family in Questa, New Mexico. She often competed with her grandkids to see who could catch the most fish or, in a few cases, who caught the biggest fish. When Charlotte wasn’t soaking up the sun in New Mexico, she couldn’t wait for football season to roll around in the fall. She was a die-hard fan of her Texas Longhorns and Cowboys, and she made sure to watch every single game. Charlotte lived life to the fullest and had a strong faith that helped her stay strong even after her diagnosis.
Charlotte is survived by her husband, Miles, who’s been with her for 53 years. They have a son, Robert, from Seagraves, Texas, a daughter and son-in-law, Nikki and Brandon Bargas, from Amarillo, and six grandchildren: Skyler, Chase, Caidence, Zoe, Campbell, and Kyson. They also have four great-grandchildren: Sevyn, Teddy, Thelonious Windham, and Augustus King. Charlotte also has two nephews, Dale and Gary Geist, who always managed to make her laugh.
Though her passing will leave us all feeling sad, let’s remember that she’s no longer in pain. She would want us to all live our lives to the fullest and cherish the love she shared with each and every one of us.
