Charles D. “Buzz” Simpkins, 75 of Amarillo passed away March 20, 2016. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home 6969 I-40 East. Buzz was born April 21, 1940 in Waynesville, Illinois. He proudly served 26 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1985. Buzz was a Vietnam veteran. After his military service he went to work for the post office, retiring in 2006. He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Vondell Simpkins of Amarillo; sons, Ron Simpkins and wife Rosa and Brian Simpkins and wife Cody; daughters, Suzanne Hatch and husband Harold and Phyllis Albin and husband John; step-daughter, Maia Tress; step-son, Gene Tress; grandchildren, Ilani Heese, Anthony Encinias, Dylan Abram, Andrea Bowman, Yvettte Simpkins, Stacy Simpkins, Brittany Simpkins, Jacob Simpkins, Justin Hatch and wife Tara, Eric Ramirez, Chloe Rangel and husband Vincente, Hayden Simpkins, Emily Simpkins, Matt Simpkins, Lauren Piercy; great-grandchildren, Addie and Judd Hatch; also by his beloved companions, Rue, Lulu and Maggie May.
