Charles was born in Blanchard, Oklahoma on April 10, 1930 to Charlie and Linnie Jackson. He lived in Dibble, Oklahoma until 1948 when he moved to Amarillo where he worked on the Ft. Worth and Denver Railroad as a Steam Locomotive Machinist. In October of 1949, he married the love of his life, Helen Meller. He began his service in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, where he served as a Military Policeman stationed in Manchester, New Hampshire. In 1954, Charles and Helen would welcome their first daughter Linda, and move back to Amarillo where Charles resumed his job with the railroad. In 1957, they welcomed their son Larry who passed away during birth. In 1959, daughter Brenda would make her anticipated arrival. He continued his railroad career working his way to Mechanical Foreman and then Road Foreman before medical issues forced him to retire in 1984 at the age of 54. He enjoyed traveling in his motor home, fishing (although he would not eat fish!), and piddling in his shop doing woodwork. He had a great sense of humor and loved joking around. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He possessed a strong, lasting love for his sweet wife Helen that was obvious to all around them.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Linnie, and son Larry. Those left to cherish his memory are his bride of nearly 70 years, Helen, his daughters Linda Brown and husband Scott, and Brenda Stokes and husband Stacy; Brother Douglas and wife Jeannie of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sister Marie L’roy and Linnie Cotgreave both of Amarillo, Texas; four grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
