Brenda Gail Smith, 71, of Amarillo died January 9, 2022. Memorial services will be held Saturday January 15, 2022 at 2:00p.m. at Griggs Schooler Gordon, 5400 Bell, with Dr. Hal Rogers officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday January 14, 2022 from 4 to 5p.m.
She was born November 12, 1950 to Fain Milam and Jewell Pauline Cross. She graduated from Caprock High School in 1968. She worked at Levi Strauss until they closed in 1998 and then worked for Texas Department of Criminal Justice Parole Division until she retired in 2015. She lived in Colorado as a child. She also lived in Dumas, Garland, Sherman, and Wichita Fall, TX. She moved back to Amarillo in 1977.
She never met a stranger, loved to laugh, play games, talk to her friends and spend time with her family. She was such a hard worker and loved to joke with her co-workers and could be a bit stubborn.
She was preceded in death by her father Fain Milam Cross, her mother, Jewell Pauline Cross, a sister, Sharon Cross, two brothers, Jerry Cross and Terry Cross, and a niece, Lisa Cross.
She is survived a daughter, Stephanie Smith and granddog Bella, of Amarillo, by her brother, Richard Cross and his wife Barbara, of Dumas, a sister-in-law, Annette Cross, of Amarillo, a nephew, Randy Cross and his wife Stephanie, of Dumas, nieces, Summer Jiminez and her husband Orlando and Erika Escalante and her husband Joshua, of Amarillo, and many great-nieces, nephews, and friends.
