Bonnie Elaine Munn, 96, died April 6, 2017 at the BSA Hospital in Amarillo, Potter County, Texas. Born to Glenn Bazel Abel and Maude Mae Coss Abel on September 9, 1920, in Bath, Clinton County, Michigan, Bonnie was the youngest of eight siblings. She grew up in and around Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan, graduating from Eastern High School in 1938.
In Lansing on August 3, 1944, Bonnie married Ralph Vincent Barrick, a native of Keyes, Cimmaron County, Oklahoma whom she had met on vacation in Florida. After Ralph died in 1945 during World War II, Bonnie moved to Amarillo, Texas, a place that Ralph had often talked about.
On December 20, 1946 at Polk Street Methodist Church, Bonnie married John Dee Munn, a native of Goodnight, Armstrong County, Texas. They lived in Amarillo for the rest of their lives, although Bonnie made frequent trips to visit her family in Michigan. In January 1954 John and Bonnie adopted their only child, Debra.
Bonnie worked at Irene's Knit Shop during the 1960s and 70s, and she was an expert at needlepoint and petit point, filling her home with beautiful pictures and decorative pillows. Since November 2016, Bonnie had been living at the Amarillo Center for Skilled Care.
She was preceded in death by her husband John in 2005, and by her seven siblings: Rex Murray Carter; Ray Lee Carter; George Murray Carter; Virgie Carter Irving; Velma Carter Bush; Wayne Harvey Carter; and Arlene Abel Pryor.
Survivors include her daughter Debra Dee Munn of Brighton, East Sussex, England; son-in-law Michael John (Mick) Henry, also of Brighton; numerous nieces and nephews; and family friend of 46 years, Sally Laabs of Amarillo.
Funeral services will take place at 2 PM, Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the Chapel of Memories at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery.
