Our dear mother Bobbye Sharon Allen sadly passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at the age of 78 in Austin, Texas. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her and she will especially be remembered for her love of family. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 21st, at Memorial Park Funeral Home’s Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, Amarillo, Texas.
Bobbye was born on December 8, 1944 in Amarillo to James and Marcheata McGowan. She married the love of her life Michael D. Allen (her “Bubbies”) on April 22, 1964. From the time she was a little girl, Bobbye loved fiercely and deeply from protecting her siblings to the loving devotion she exhibited for her husband, children, and grandchildren (who know her as “Grandma Bobbye”). Bobbye was a homemaker for most of her life, but also worked as an operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for about 10 years. In her spare time, she loved to play games (especially with her grandchildren), was an avid reader, created beautiful quilts, and loved to crochet.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Marcheata McGowan, husband of 47 years Michael Dale Allen, brother Donald Dale McGowan, sister Peggy McNutt, and grandson K.W. Savage. Survivors include: daughters, Kerry Morgan and husband Rodney of Amarillo, Texas, Terry Page and husband Larry of Austin, Texas; son Jerry Allen and wife Kathina of Madison, Alabama; grandchildren, Leah Dull and husband Josh, Amber Morgan, RJ Morgan and wife Kelsey, Dillan Savage, Nyk Allen and wife Taylor, Andrew Allen and wife Emily, Malachi, Sullivan, and Bryson Allen, great grandchildren, Abi Loflin, Luke, Emma, Asher, and Titus Morgan, sisters, Sue McGowan and Debbie Howat and brother James McGowan.
She will be missed by all who loved her. In lieu of flowers, donations to Braydensgift.org to support autism needs would be appreciated.
