Bev enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean War. He served 4 years,18 months with a mobile unit in Alaska during the construction of the Distant Early Warning Line. He described his military service as never being shot at or having to shoot someone, but being able to save lives in Air Traffic Control and Ground Control Approach. He laughingly added he was able to give orders to generals, such as Curtis Lemay, and watch over Gen. Jimmy Doolittle, when the general was on a bear hunt at Point Barrow, Alaska. He graduated from Amarillo High School and attended Victoria and Amarillo Junior Colleges.
After his time in the military, Bev worked as a geological draftsman. He retired in 1983, being head of the Geological Drafting Department of Santa Fe Energy.
He was active in the Randall County Republican Party beginning in 1963 as Precinct Chairman and volunteer. Bev was a wonderful husband and father. He would frequently tell young parents that being a parent was the most important job in the world.
Special thanks to the staff of Crown of Texas Dialysis Center who give their lives for the care of others.
