A celebration of life service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2019, at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 6969 E. Interstate 40 with Pastor Curtis Redmond officiating. Visitation will be held prior the celebration of life services from 11am to 1pm. Interment will follow the service in the Garden of Hope of Memorial Park Cemetery.
Benny was born November 5, 1940 in Estelline, Texas, to his parents, Andy and Ruth Wright Dunlap.
Benny grew up on a farm in Morton, Texas, and graduated from Morton High School in 1959. He met the love of his life, Anonie Hightower, and they married June 2, 1961, in Muleshoe, Texas. She preceded him in death on May 24, 2019, nine days shy of their 58th wedding anniversary.
Benny worked for Pioneer Natural Gas Fain plant from 1969 to 1986 and managed Wonderland RV Park with his wife for the past 24 years. Benny was an avid reader; always reading for pleasure, researching, and learning new things. He loved fishing with his wife and together they created a lifetime of wonderful memories with their two children riding motorcycles, camping, vacationing, and playing dominos and cards. Benny loved his family, friends, classmates, his beloved dog Tia, and classic country music. He had a sense of humor and made everyone laugh. He was most proud of his children and grandchildren.
Mr. Dunlap is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one sister, Kay Bass.
Survivors include two children, Spike Dunlap and wife, Becca, of Plainview, and daughter Andene Sailors and husband, Terry, of Pilot Point, Texas. Also, three grandsons; Jacob Sailors and wife, Dorothy, of Fort Worth; Trevor Sailors and wife, Mattie, of Celina; Nathan Sailors and wife, Taryn, of Van Alstyne; Jordan Dunlap of Plainview, Emily Smyth and husband, Corey, of Lubbock; and Drew Dunlap of Lubbock; and three great-grandchildren; Cora Sailors, David Sailors, and Benjamin Sailors.
