Anita was born to Verda Lee and AC Coker on December 28, 1939. She graduated from Amarillo High school in 1958.
She married her soulmate John (Jay) Charles Butcher, Sr. on January 3, 1959. They enjoyed spending time with family and friends. They built their dream home, and enjoyed many travel adventures. Anita delighted in playing golf especially with the Tuesday Ladies group. It brought Anita great pleasure to dig in the dirt which resulted in her beautiful flower beds. Anita and Jay almost always had a project going to enhance their beautiful home. Whenever Jay entered the room she would say “There is the love of my life” and he would respond “I got her at the Hi-D-Ho!” They shared a life of love and dedication for over 63 years, through all of life’s ups and downs!
Anita, Sweetheart, Sis, Mama, Aunt ‘Nita and Meme are fond names used by those of us who loved & cherished her.
Anita is survived by her husband John Charles Butcher, Sr., children, Cassie Jo Bowen, Jayna Katherine Martin, John Charles Butcher, Jr., grandchildren Ryan Martin, Ashley Martin, Eric Bowen and wife Laura, Andrew Bowen and wife Sam, and John (Tre) Charles Butcher III.
She was united with a glad shout from The LORD, along with her Mother Verda Lee Coker, Father A.C. Coker, brother Joel Ray Coker and many other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, to honor the fight that Anita had with multiple myeloma, the family requests donations to The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation
