Roger Allen Anderson 81, was born October 19, 1942 and passed away on March 19, 2024 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was born to Merlin and Lois Anderson in Redfield, SD. Roger graduated from Plainview Academy in Redfield SD in 1960 and in 1965 he graduated from Union College in Lincoln NE with a Bachelors Degree in music education.
Roger began his career at Mile High Academy in Denver CO as the music teacher. From there he went to work for Warner Chilcott in Omaha NE as a pharmaceutical representative. He then worked for Siemens Company as a representative and was instrumental in introducing the new technology of MRI’s to numerous US Hospitals. Roger moved to Orlando in 1983 and worked in management at Florida Hospital. His last and most loved employment of 16 years was as Administrative Pastor at Forest Lake Adventist Church in Altamonte Springs, FL.
Roger married Carolyn Hooper on October 19, 2001 and they spent 23 wonderful years together. Roger and Carolyn were truly soulmates and lived a beautiful christian life together with a love that was sent from above.
Roger will be remembered by his quick wit and love of a good joke. He lived his life with purpose and with a huge passion for music. He was an accomplished violinist/violist with perfect pitch and played in symphonies, string quartets and many church functions. Roger was an absolute compassionate, kind, gentle giant, at 6’5” tall. He was a devoted christian that walked with his savior and proclaimed his promise of the blessed hope on resurrection morning.
Roger is preceded in death by his father, Merlin Anderson; mother, Lois Anderson; and daughter, Dr Joan Anderson Dixon.
Roger is survived by wife, Carolyn Anderson; his son and wife, Todd Anderson and Dr. Sonja Hansen of Champaign IL.; blended children Silas Webster and Kimberly Cunningham of Muskogee OK; his sister, Sharlene Lagro and husband Henry of Comfort TX; his grandchildren, Luke and Max Hansen Anderson, Alexandra Dixon; blended grandchildren, Derek Webster, Morgan Perez, Dalton Tolliver, James Brady, and Kiefer Brady, and 18 great grandchildren; along with numerous beloved family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, financial contributions can be made in memory of Roger to the Parkinson's Foundation, the Building Fund of Forest Lake Seventh Day Adventist Church, or Advent Health Hospice of Altamonte Springs.
A memorial service will be held on June 1, 2024 at 3:30 at the Forest Lake Seventh Day Adventist Church. 515 Harley Lester Lane, Apopka, Florida
Another memorial service will be held in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to be announced at a future date.
