On Sunday, July 9, 2023, Paul Karas passed away from this life after he struggled several years with debilitating heart disease. Paul was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, partner and friend to many. He was an exceptional cabinet maker, designer, mechanic, cook and outside of the box thinker. He was a true renaissance man and there was not much he could not do.
Born in Brockton, MA on April 29, 1962, he lost his loving mother at the tender age of 6 years old. He got the entrepreneurial spirit around the age of 8. He worked at a neighbor’s cabinet shop, learning his first trade. From then on, there really was no stopping him. During a short stint in the Navy, Paul discovered his mechanical prowess and also met Janet, the love of his life. The night they met, he asked her to marry him and they spent 33 years together raising their two sons, Alex and Levi.
Paul had a successful cabinet business until the 2008 crash, but managed to reinvent himself with his business, 888 Clean Up and more recently, Hardcore Concrete Cutting. He owned some of the most sophisticated equipment in the Southeast. His business acumen was second to none and his instincts were rarely wrong. He was the guy people called when they just couldn’t figure something out.
He is survived by his son Alex, his granddaughters - Lacey and Chanel, siblings - Greg, Mike, Jeff (Alice), Patty, and Donna. He also left behind his loving companion of 7 years - Dawn and his “brutha from anotha mutha” - Bobby. He was preceded in death by his younger son Levi, brother John and wife Janet.
Paul was taken from us too soon, but he lived life his way. If 1 was good, 10 was better. May he rest in peace and in his memory, may he bring a smile or a chuckle to all who loved and will miss him.
