Born August 16, 1946 in Fremont, Ohio, the eldest child of the late US Air Force Lt Col

A jovial and adventurous individual, Michael (Mike) enjoyed camping, fishing and taking
his Harley-Davidson bike on long rides. Also dabbling in the arts, Mr Fligor enjoyed
singing and poetry. His sense of humor and joie de vivre will live long in the hearts of
family and friends.
In his private life, he was devoted to his children: JoAnna, Ben, Ashley, and Kimberly,
and wife Phuong Thi Khanh (Xuan). He also supported non-profit organizations
especially those honoring the service and preserving the memory of American war
veterans.
Mike grew up while his father was in the Air Force moving often and traveling on family
vacations across the US and Europe. In WWII Bob was a B-17 pilot, 8th Air Force, 95th
Bomb Group. To honor his father’s service, Mike attended several reunions of the 95th
BG Memorials Foundation.
As an infant, Mike and his mother moved to Greenland where his father was stationed.
In 1948, then 1st Lt Fligor was transferred the Malmstrom, AFB where Mike’s sister,
Terry DuSoleil, Los Angeles, California and brother, James, West Lafayette, Indiana,
were born.
In the years that followed the Fligor family often visited relatives in Ohio taking long road
trips and visiting historic sites along the way. While his father was stationed in Germany
the family vacationed in the Netherlands, France and Italy passing through the Swiss
Alps.
Living at Bunker Hill AFB (Grissom), Mike completed middle and high school. After
graduation from Bunker Hill High School, Mike served during the Vietnam war with the
US Army, 4th CAV, an experience he carried with him for the duration of his life.
In 1972, he received his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University.
Professionally Mr Fligor worked as teacher, in the food industry, construction and real
estate.
He met Jean Ormsby in high school whom he married shortly after he was drafted in
1967. Their two children, JoAnna Daly, Orlando, and Ben Fligor, Aalborg, Denmark,
were born in Kokomo, Indiana.
Mike later married his second wife, Sharon, with whom he welcomed two daughters,
Ashley, Meeker, Oklahoma and Kimberly, Ft Worth, Texas.
After years struggling with post traumatic stress, Mike travelled to Vietnam on a trip
organized by the Vietnam Brotherhood, a nonprofit dedicated to helping veterans find
healing by connecting to the country and its culture. As a result, Mike volunteered with a
non-profit which assists Vietnamese orphans.
While in Vietnam Mike met his third wife, Xuan. In 2011 she joined him in the US where
