Joseph William Birmingham

Joseph William Birmingham, “Joe”, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2017 at Hospice of the Comforter in Altamonte Springs with family by his side. Joe was 96 years old and was born in Boston Massachusetts to William J. Birmingham and Helen Hennessy Birmingham on March 27, 1921. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 50 years, Helmi, his nephew, Ray Areng and many of his cherished pet Chows.

Joe served in the Army in WWII and retired from the U.S. Government in 1988 when he and Helmi moved to Longwood, Florida. He is survived by his nephew Veljo Areng, Veljo’s daughter Aili and family along with Ray Areng’s son Jason and his family, friends Jim Costello and Carol Nunez.

Funeral services will be December 14, 2017 at Annunciation Catholic Church AT 102 Montgomery Road in Altamonte Springs. Visitation at 2:00 pm, Funeral Mass at 2:30 pm. A private burial will be at Florida National Cemetery, where Joe will be joined with Helmi in their final rest.
