He was born in Bellevue, Pennsylvania on September 2, 1943 to the late John Paul and Virginia Maud (Reeder) Coen.
John loved people, a natural storyteller, even to strangers! A University of Miami graduate and a Pi Kappa Alpha, he remained a consummate Hurricanes fan, and also joined the cheering section of the Miami Dolphins. Of course, when it came to baseball, John stuck to his original love of the Pittsburgh Pirates. And, he himself was an avid golfer.
He and his late wife Joan raised their family in Orlando together, and John made a good living as an insurance claims adjuster. They knew how to have a good time, enjoying concerts together, and traveling, often on cruises. His children remember him with joy & laughter, and miss him already.
John was preceded in death by his parents and his dear wife, Joan Coen.
He is survived by his children, John R. Coen, Charles Coen (Christina) and Evie Jennings; grandchildren, Maddie and Christopher Jennings; and he is also survived by his sister, Virginia Bookwalter, and her family. John will be laid to rest with his dear wife, Joan, at Highland Memorial Park in Apopka, Florida.
Condolences may be offered to his family in the online guest book below.
