Born on October 19, 1937, in Atlanta, Georgia, he was the son of George William Tingle, Sr. and Lois Ball Tingle. He is preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife of 57 years, Margie Tingle.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Robin Tingle of Clayton, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Lacey Tingle of Morrisville, NC, Crystal Tingle of Garner, NC, and Matthew Tingle of Clayton, North Carolina; one sister, Ann Hare of Greenwood, SC, as well as many extended family members and a host of wonderful neighbors and friends.
George cared deeply for his family and his country. He joined the United States Navy on his 17th birthday in 1954. He was stationed in many locations throughout his career and rose to the rank of Senior Chief Navy Counselor. During his military service he received numerous awards including a National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, and a Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. He served his country proudly until he retired in 1985.
In 1986 he began working for the Seminole County Veteran Service Office and had an amazing second career helping veterans like himself navigate their life after leaving military service. He retired once again in 2007. George loved his sweet wife Margie with all his heart and was a wonderful, caring father to his son Michael. He was also very proud of his three grandchildren. George had the most generous heart and was always looking for ways to help those in need.
Interment will be in the Arlington National Cemetery at a date to be determined.
