She was born in West Virginia on September 25th, 1938. Doris graduated with her two-year business degree from McClains Business School in Bluefield, West Virginia. She worked as an office manager for Sands and had a passion for reading.
Doris was always wanting to help her friends and family in any way she could, even if it was something as simple as making sure she had their favorite sweets when they came to visit or saving the coupons in the paper for Sundays when her nephew and his family came by. Although she did not have children, she treated all her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. Even in times of hardship and when one of her nephews had just found out where Christmas gifts really came from, she was still able to make it special for him and surprised him with his very own stereo.
She was the oldest of five siblings and is survived by Kenneth Hawkins of Deltona, Sue Kinsley of Madison, Brenda Monger of Winter Springs, and Joan Metcalf of Altamonte Springs.
Pallbearers will be nephews James Russell and Jeffrey Metcalf, great nephews Bradley Gaskin and Marc Gaskin, and great nieces Jessica Akoghlanian and Jennifer LaBonte.
A Visitation for Doris will be held Friday, January 17, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
