

Al is survived by his wife of 61 years, Roberta (Kaufmann), his children Julie (Jeff) Glawatz of Marietta, GA; Brian of Melbourne, FL, his two grandsons, Logan Bowers and Jack Glawatz and by his sister, Virginia Bowers of Hamburg, NY
Born in Buffalo, NY, Mr. Bowers graduated from Hamburg High School in 1952 and went on to attend Tri State University in Angola, Indiana. He left Tri State to enlist in the U.S. Army, serving from 1955-1957 and remained in the reserves until 1963. He met his wife, Roberta (Betty), after returning from the Army and they eloped to marry in 1958.
Al worked for AT&T/NYNEX in the Buffalo area for 30 years. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Al was active in his hometown of Hamburg, NY, serving his church, St. Peter & Paul, including President of the PTA at St. Peter & Paul catholic school. Al was also President of the Armor Volunteer Fire Company and served as Commander of American Legion Post 527.
Al and Betty retired to Melbourne, FL in 1988. Al enjoyed classic cars and attending classic car shows where he would often display his 1954 Oldsmobile at shows and won some awards. Al was an avid Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabre’s fan, always hopeful for Superbowl and Stanley Cup wins.
A private funeral service will be held later this year. Albert was cremated and requested to be buried at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Florida.
