1941-2021
Richard Krinsky, age 79, passed away on April 9, 2021, in Arlington, Virginia.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Kay, of Arlington, Virginia, brother Marv (Connie) of Mansfield,OH, sister Ann Rolison (Steve) of Miami, FL, nephews Dan (Chris) of Stow, OH, Doug (Kelly) of Westerville, OH and Michael Rolison of Titusville, FL.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ida (Weiss) and Louis Krinsky and stepmother, Henrietta, and his brother Stanley.
Richard was born June 7, 1941, in Brooklyn, NY. He remained a long-time Yankee baseball fan and proudly wore his Yankee cap everywhere . As a boy, he enjoyed working along side his father at his newsstand on 50th and Broadway, NYC. The stories of George M. Cohan, Jack Dempsey and other famous people of Broadway made Richard love the excitement of NYC.
He received his BS degree in ceramic engineering from Alfred University,( Alfred NY ), an MS degree in statistics from the University of Alabama, (Tuscaloosa, AL) and his JD law degree from Catholic University,(Washington, DC).
Richard achieved the rank of Major in the Army, earning multiple medals and awards. He served two tours in Vietnam, and had several other interesting assignments, including being the Senior Aide to a three-star general in Heidelberg, Germany. He and Kay used this time to explore Europe and left with many happy memories.
After leaving the Army, Richard drew on his entrepreneurial spirit and engaged in varied endeavors and interests. He obtained private and commercial pilot licenses and spent many hours in the air. He earned his law degree and with his love of flying, became an aviation attorney. He later became a patent attorney with a firm in Washington, DC.
After retiring, he and Kay traveled extensively, visiting the many friends they made all over the world and discovering new places.
He keenly followed current events and read several newspapers a day. Friends enjoyed interesting conversations with him on many different subjects. He loved a good discussion and had a great sense of humor. He was generous, caring and compassionate towards others. He strongly believed in integrity. Richard loved driving his Porsche and was a natural athlete, playing tennis, running , skiing and golfing whenever he had the opportunity.
Richard loved the song by Frank Sinatra, “I Did It My Way” and yes, he did it his way and loved every minute of it.
He believed in helping our veterans, therefore, donations can be made in his name and honor to the Wounded Warrior Project or like charity.
Richard will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
