Paul Vincent Doyle, 93, of Alexandria, Virginia, passed away peacefully in the company of loved ones on Sunday, December 18, 2016. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on March 10, 1923, to James and Catherine Doyle. Paul is preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Doyle, and his six siblings, James, Arthur, Helen, George, Anne, and twin, Francis. He was a devoted father to his eight children, Paul (Pat), Arthur (Linda), Joseph (Deb), Thomas (Miki), Mary Ann (David Woodson), Susan (Robert Larsen), James, and Catherine (Duncan Price). He was the cherished grandfather of William (Amanda), Matthew, Michael (Amanda), Joseph (Heather), Scott, Laura, John, Erik, Kathleen, Patrick, and Henry, and great grandchildren, Olivia and Chase. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Paul was a veteran of World War II, where he served with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the South Pacific. He earned a master’s degree from Northeastern University. A registered professional engineer, Paul had a distinguished career in the federal government, serving 38 years in the Defense Logistics Agency. He was a lifelong New England sports fan and enjoyed following the Boston Braves, Red Sox, Celtics, and New England Patriots.
Friends and family will be received at Demaine Funeral Home, 520 South Washington Street, Alexandria, Virginia 22314 on Monday, January 9, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 8710 Mount Vernon Highway, Alexandria, Virginia 22309. Interment will follow at Fairfax Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (www.svdpusa.org).
