Of Alexandria, Virginia, died on February 25, 2012, surrounded by his wife and sons in Lewes, Delaware. Lou was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on July 30, 1939, to the late Alex and Paulita Bransford. Lou attained his B.B.A. from the College of Santa Fe. He obtained his M.A. and Ed.D. from the University of Northern Colorado.
During a career that spanned four decades in the satellite communications industry Lou held numerous senior executive positions with both nonprofit and commercial concerns, and served as the International Telecommunication Union Representative to the United Nations during the late "80s and early "90s. Until his retirement in 2004 Lou was the Chairman of the Board and CEO of Esatel Communications, Inc. He also served on the National Advisory Council for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Executive Nurse Fellows Program and the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions, Inc.
Lou is survived by his wife, Mary Kay Bransford, and sons, Tim (Megan) and Patrick (Melinda), and four grandsons, Riley, James, Ty and Casey.
He is also survived by his siblings, Mary Ann Romero, Jim Bransford, Bernadette Gonzales, Lucille Kleezka, Michael Bransford, Dolores Miller, Phillip Bransford, Arthur Bransford, Ted Bransford, and Ben Bransford. He was predeceased by his brothers, William "Billy" Bransford, Richard "Ricky" Bransford, and sister, Juanita Chavez.
