Kenny was born on July 14, 1942 in Auburn MA, the son of A. Barbara and Kenneth E Rogers. He was a graduate of Auburn High School and Lowell Tech, with a degree in mechanical engineering.
Kenny is survived by his son, Gregory S. Rogers and wife Ashly Rogers and and two grandchildren, Lauren and Cameron of Elkton MD and his daughter, Kathy L. Siegel and husband Ryan and granddaughter, Mikeely of Enciniitas, CA. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara A. Stietzel and her husband Ronald of Sturbridge, MA.
Beginning as a Nuclear Engineer at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in NH, Ken became focused on the safety of the cranes which service the nuclear submarines. This garnered him a position at Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington DC, where he wrote the manual for crane safety for all the shipyards.
Kenny then relocated to the Pacific Northwest. He was the Audit team Leader to assess crane safety for all navel shore based activities in the Pacific Rim including the Pacific Northwest, Hawaii and Alaska.
Kenny ended his career in the Navy Capitol Procurement Program, where he oversaw the procurement of twelve Portal Cranes for the Naval Shipyards with Samsung Heavy Industries in Geoje, Korea.
No amount of professional accomplishment ever overshadowed his love for his family. Ken's granddaughters were the light of his life and his grandson was quickly becoming Grandpa's shadow. Ken will be remembered as a wonderful friend, a good listener, and most of all as "the best "Grampa" in the world".
Kenny traveled extensively both domestically and internationally. He was always going somewhere, doing something new and helping friends and family fix something. He was a lover of the outdoors, an avid skier, a hiker, a mountain biker, and an avid gardener, especially if he was with his family - whether on the east coast or the west coast.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on March 19, 2011 at the Demaine Funeral Home in Alexandria, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation at
