John “Jack” Kinsey, 92, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2025, in Annandale, Virginia. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and accomplished aerospace engineer, Jack lived a life marked by dedication to family, faith, and the pursuit of innovation.
Born on January 24, 1933, in Salem, New Jersey, Jack was the son of Margaret Kinsey and Charles Allen Kinsey. He pursued his passion for engineering at Rutgers University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. This academic foundation launched a distinguished career that would leave a lasting impact on the field of aerospace.
Jack spent much of his professional life with the Aerospace Corporation. His expertise and leadership led him to serve as Head of Aerospace Corp. at the Johnson Space Center in Houston. During his tenure, he contributed significantly to the development of the Space Shuttle program and satellite technologies—advancements that helped shape modern space exploration.
Beyond his professional achievements, Jack was deeply committed to his community and personal interests. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he was an avid baseball fan and dedicated Little League coach who found joy in mentoring young players. He also enjoyed football and was a skilled Bridge player who relished both the strategy and camaraderie of the game.
He was a longtime member and usher of St. John's Episcopal Church in Lafayette Square, Washington, D.C., where he found spiritual fulfillment and fellowship.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife Becky Schergens; his sons from his previous marriage, Steven Kinsey, John Kinsey, and Robert Kinsey; his daughter-in-law Jackie Kinsey; his grandchildren Dzi Kinsey, Jake Kinsey, and John F. Kinsey; and nieces and nephews John, Patricia, Joann, Mike and Paul. He was preceded in death by his sister Barbara Keating and his parents Margaret and Charles Allen Kinsey.
Jack’s legacy lives on through the lives he touched—as an engineer who reached for the stars and as a man whose warmth grounded those around him. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
