Harmon Burns, III passed away peacefully at his home in Alexandria, Virginia on February 18, 2017. He was a 7th generation Washingtonian and was born on April 27, 1952, at Georgetown University Hospital to Harmon and Ada Burns.
Harmon graduated from St. John’s College High School and the University of Maryland. Harmon was a prominent figure in the parking management industry throughout the Washington, D.C area for over 25 years. He was the President and COO of Altman's Parking. In 2013, Harmon founded HB Parking in Old Town Alexandria. He was not only well thought of by his peers in the industry, he also had many dedicated and loyal employees who worked for him for over 20 years.
Harmon was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Alexandria, and the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick. He accomplished three Marine Corps Marathons and the New York City Marathon. He enjoyed skiing, golfing, pheasant shooting, traveling, and the beach.
Harmon was a well-loved man and a true gentleman. He will be missed by many.
He is survived by his daughter, Chelsea Burns; sisters, Barbara Williams and Nancy Quaranto; a brother, Danny Burns; his long-time partner, Carolyn Weeder; his nieces, Anastasia Williams, Mary Kathleen and Ashley Burns; his nephews, Paul Quaranto and Alex Kerr; a brother-in-law, Leonard Quaranto; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Burns.
The visitation will be held from 6:00 pm until 8:30 pm on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Demaine Funeral Home in Old Town Alexandria. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at St Mary Catholic Church, 310 S. Royal Street, Alexandria, Virginia 22314 with burial immediately following at Mt Olivet Cemetery.
