Eleanor Neal Hollandsworth

Mrs. Hollandsworth was a native of Ansted, WV. She received her BA degree from Marshall University, Huntington, WV, her MA degree in education from George Washington University and did additional graduate work in education at the University of Virginia.

She began her career in 1948 as a high school teacher in Mt. Hope, WV. After her marriage she moved to Huntington, WV where she taught at a junior high school. She taught first grade in Arlington prior to moving to Fairfax County where she taught at Belle View Elementary School. In 1957 she became a special reading teacher. In 1963 she opened Stratford Landing Elementary School as principal and in 1969 she opened Fort Hunt Elementary School. In 1976 she became Coordinator for Instructional Services, Administrative Area 1 and in 1978 Area 1 Administrator a position she held until her retirement.

Her husband, Charles J. Hollandsworth died in 1966.

She is survived by one daughter, Jeri Lynn Hollandsworth of Virginia Beach, VA.
