“Tina” was born in Kannapolis NC to Mayola and Britton Johnson on May 25th 1957, and was adopted by James Sarden when her mother (Mayola) remarried. She was in a Navy family and went to Grade school in Newport Rhode Island and Long Island New York. She graduated from Park University with a Bachelor’s in Management/Human Resources. She worked as a Budget Analyst and Comptroller for the Department of Defense for over 20 years. She was a veteran who served in the National Guard and later switched to Active-Duty Army Reserves and has served for 15 years in total. She has received numerous awards and certificates of appreciation for excellent work supporting the Guard Bureau and Department of Defense. She was involved in mentorship programs for young women, did taxes for free at the Sherwood Hall Library in Fairfax County and donated/volunteered for Alexandria City’s DHS Holiday Sharing program for many years. She was very active; she loved to exercise and participate in charity endurance events such as the Avon Breast Cancer Walk. Brittina is preceded in death by her parents James and Mayola Sarden, and her oldest sister Donnise Young. Brittina is survived by 1 child, 7 brothers and sisters, 1 grandchild and many nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.
Reflection and Fellowship will be at 1pm Saturday November 18th, 2023, at Demaine Funeral Home in Alexandria.
Memorial services will be held at 3pm, Saturday November 18th at Demaine Funeral Home, with the Pastor Paul Hypolite of Alfred Street Baptist officiating.
