Wanda J Smith, born September 7, 1929, to the late Dale Price and Lola Kinder in Moreland Arkansas. Wanda, known to most family and friends as “Mammaw” died September 14, 2023, in her home peacefully with her family surrounding her. Wanda is also preceded in death by her sisters, Ina Faye Price and Patricia Ann Rowe, and her youngest brother, Ronald Ray Price.
Wanda was married in February 1949 to E. Ralph Smith and remained married to her soulmate until her death. Their love for each other was enduring & together they made 74 years of many happy memories. They enjoyed fishing together, traveling, & spending time with their family & grandchildren. They were both dedicated members of Geyer Springs First Baptist Church for over 30 years and built many wonderful life long relationships.
Wanda was a homemaker until 1962 when her children became teenagers. She then decided to enter the workforce at Oppenheimer’s as a seamstress, but quickly became a supervisor. She later became the bookkeeper for Baptist Medical Center Credit Union and was eventually promoted to the Director. For several years, she was President of the Credit Professionals International were she would eventually retire from.
Wanda is survived by her husband of 74 years, E Ralph Smith; two children, Linda Gail Mangiapane married to Stephen (MO), David Wayne Smith married to Marcia Ann (deceased) (AR); five grandchildren; 12 great- grandchildren. Brandi L. Smith (Bryant), 2 children, Taylor & Tanner; Brian C. Smith (Alexander), 3 children, Jaycee, Kaylee, & Brayden; Jared A. Smith (Haskell), 3 children, Mikayla (deceased) Kylah, & Madison, Joesph P. Mangiapane (MO), 3 children, Ashley, Corina, & Noah; Joshua G. Mangiapane (MO), 1 child, Anthony. She is also survived by her brother, James Dale Price,(AR) and her sister, Frieda Gwin Arnold (MI). She will be loved and missed but always remembered by so many family and friends.
Visitation is from 9:00-10:00 am, Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Pinecrest Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 7401 Hwy 5 N, Alexander, Arkansas 72002. Memorial service will begin at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Entombment to follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
