Roger Glover, a dedicated pastor and community servant, born August 29, 1941, passed away peacefully at home with his family on Saturday, April 19, 2025. Born into a Methodist family, Roger embraced his calling into pastoral ministry in 1970, leaving behind a successful career managing a Bonanza Steakhouse. He faithfully served Methodist congregations across Arkansas and Texas, including Hartford, Josephine, Alma, Elaine, Hoxie, Tuckerman, Danville, Ozark, Newport, Dardanelle, Hamilton, Humnoke, Lonoke, Mount Carmel in Benton, and Redfield. Roger graduated from Perkins School of Theology in Dallas, Texas, in 1974, and notably preached his final sermon in January 2024 at Redfield UMC.
Known for his steadfast commitment to faith in Jesus Christ, Roger courageously addressed challenging topics at approximately fifty Annual Conferences. Though often controversial, he saw his mission as one similar to biblical prophets, committed to biblical truth regardless of popularity. Roger and wife Louise authored "Health, Wholeness & Spirituality A Journey" and "Christian Sexuality and the Sexual Revolution”.
In addition to his pastoral duties, Roger and his beloved wife Louise, whom he married in 1963, made substantial community impacts, notably in founding a Council on Domestic Violence in Northeast Arkansas after discovering an urgent need for battered women's programs. He and his wife served as volunteers for 8 years in this ministry. This initiative continues to positively impact lives today.
Roger is survived by his wife, Louise Glover; their daughters Gillian Glover and Glynda Brinsfield; son-in-law Zeke Brinsfield; grandchildren Caleb and Daniel Brinsfield; and numerous congregations enriched by his spiritual leadership.
Roger's legacy endures in his unwavering dedication to his faith, family, and community. His life's journey exemplified his heartfelt proclamation at his retirement: "Lord, I had a good time!" Roger will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him. 2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
