Jerry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, water skiing and his yardwork. Christmas was his favorite holiday, Jerry loved to decorate and bring Christmas cheer to others around him. He enjoyed being involved in different civic organizations and with his son’s schools, serving as President of the Athletics Booster Club for several years .
He was a graduate of Columbia College.
Jerry was a very dedicated soldier, serving 3 tours in Vietnam with the United States Army. He earned the rank of Sergeant First Class and several medals and awards including: NDSM, GCMDL, ARCOM w/OLC, VCofG w/PALM, ASR, OSR, NPDR, RVNCM, MKM Qual BAD M14, USA GOLD STAR RCTR BADGE w/1 Sapphire STAR, VSM w/1 SILVER SVC STAR, and VSM w/1 BRONZE SVC STAR.
After retiring from the United States Army in 1982, Jerry went on to work in the Fire Protection Industry where he became the President of the Special Systems/Perkins Supply of the American Fire Protection Group until his retirement in 2010.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 52 years, Sandra Morrison; sons and daughters-in-law: Jeremy and Gwynn Morrison and Dr. Jason and Stephanie Morrison; grandson, Blake; granddaughter, Brennan Morrison; and sister, Verlene Hargrove.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Glenn and Rayburn Morrison.
Visitation will be held, 6-8pm, Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Pinecrest Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held, 2pm, Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Pinecrest Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
