James Monroe Zumo "Roe" born Oct. 6,1939 in Sonora, CA to Carl Davis Zumo and Genevive Muckelrath . At the age of 84yr & 11 mon. Roe passed peacefully Sept. 8, 2024, with his family by his side to be with his Lord and Savior. After an early age passing of his dad Carl his stepdad was Albert Sheppard Ward. Roe graduated from Parkers Chapel High School in May 1958 as Valedictorian. Married his high school sweetheart Lela Ray Faulkner, they were blessed to have celebrated 66 years together. He attended Ouachita Baptist University, AR; Louisiana Technical University, Ruston, LA.; and University of Central Missouri.
Roe and Lela were blessed with two children Benita Kay Zumo and James Scott Zumo (Sheila), the blessings continued with grandchildren Danielle Zumo-Smith, Gabrielle Woodruff, Kayla Zumo and Aadin Huchingson, great grandchildren Liam Woodruff, Theodore Letzig, Lane McCann, and Duncan Letzig.
Roe was ordained as a deacon Feb.4, 1968 at Shady Oaks Baptist Church in Lake Jackson, TX, he continued serving as deacon through many churches including his current church Congo Road Baptist Church. Roe loved his Lord and Savior and enjoyed serving in each church they joined as they moved, he served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and Choir member.
Roe accomplished many things in his lifetime with his family being his greatest joy, he treasured and loved each member of his family. Roe took great pride in having served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He learned his trade of instrumentation while he served in the Air Force, He used that trade for 20 years before he retired from Alcoa in Benton AR. Roe started his own business Arkansas Instrument Service in 1969 and retired from ownership after 46 years.
Roe learned to scuba dive and volunteered as deepwater recovery and rescue with Brazoria County, TX for 2 1/2 yrs. He had stories of these adventures and many of them where he would say God saved him in the deepest of waters.
For a time at the Dive Shop on Lake Ouachita he taught Scuba Diving.
Roe earned his private pilot license in 1970 and at one time owned his own small plane where he flew out of Benton, AR.
Along with his parents he is also preceded in death by his grandson Nathan Woodruff. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, children, grandchildren, many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services Sept. 14, 2024 10:00 AM at Congo Road Baptist Church Benton, AR with Bro. Jeff Langley officiating.
Graveside service with burial to follow will be Sept. 14, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Old Parkers Chapel Cemetery ElDorado, AR. With Bro. Jeff Langley officiating.
Those wishing to attend the graveside are asked to meet at the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Scott Zumo, Aadin Huchingson, David Faulkner, Bryce Faulkner, Mike Stuckey, and Rick Smith. Honorary Pallbearers are CRCB Mens Sunday School Class.
